Welcome to the Camera Tech Equipment Guide!

I’ve researched lots of recommendations for video equipment and tried quite a few items out.

These are the ones I currently use and recommend* for price value.

Smart Phone Set-Up

This is my favorite mic. Inexpensive and as you can hear in the course video, the sound is almost identical to the more expensive Rode mic. When you listen back, make sure that you pull the plug out from your device. Works with phone or computer.

This comes with a 20′ cable so you can walk a distance from your computer.

Best when you want the option to stand.

42″ tall. Best for when you are sitting at a distance.

Spring holder.

This holder screws tight as opposed to using a spring that stretches.

Lighting Set-Up

I don’t own this one, but my daughter does and its smaller size makes it easier to tuck away when not in use.

When I got my Diva Nebula, it was the only large ring light out there. Now we have less expensive options. Why spend $300 when you can get this at a third of the price?

Although I have a ring light, this is the first light I reach for everyday use. It’s easy to tuck away and it takes 10 seconds to grab, open the tripod it’s attached to (included), and place it behind my computer on the desk. However, it’s also way overpriced. So I’m not sure these benefits outweigh the higher Investment. I’ll leave that for you to decide.
